When you train with other club members you do so as partners not adversaries, you are each responsible for the safety of your partner. Mat awareness - before performing a technique make sure there is sufficient room to complete it so that it finishes on the mat and without endangering yourself or others. Any injury suffered before a training session should be reported to your instructor. Any injury received during training must be reported immediately to the instructor in charge of the session. When applying locks or chokes do so slowly and progressively in a controlled manner. When your instructor calls Yamme, Rei you must stop, bow and listen to the instruction. Only perform the techniques your instructor has shown you. Variations are only shown by an instructor. Show respect to your instructor and fellow jiu jitsuka at all times. No fooling around. Arriving late is to be avoided, but if you do arrive late, wait at the side of the mat until invited on by an instructor. Bow when entering or leaving the dojo, when going on or coming off the mat, before and after practise with a fellow jiu jitsuka and when addressing your instructor. Address all black belts as sensei. Do not interrupt your instructor when he or she is instructing someone else, unless it is urgent. Do not leave the dojo without an instructor's permission. Bad language, ignoring sensei's instruction or impudence will not be tolerated in the dojo. Jiu Jitsu involves close contact with others. Personal hygiene is important. Clean hands, feet and clothing. Fingernails and toenails kept clean and short. Dress code will be observed at all times. No jewellery or watches to be worn on the mat. Ear studs are removed or covered. Women should wear a modesty tee shirt when necessary. |
